Second Week of Advent- Monday (by Buttface)

Scripture: Malachi 3:1-4 Write about a difficult time in your life. How did God refine your in the midst of that?

Sleeping on a lumpy mattress on the floor of a jail cell in the Tygart's Valley Regional Jail I felt like my life was in ruins. I had completely blown any chance of ever becoming a pastor, a respected member of society, or living up to my family's and my own expectations. Every day since that terrible night I am being refined, from that point I FINALLY began to grow up. I began to take responsibility for my actions, I started REALLY trying to live a life worthy of my calling. It hasn't been easy, it's tested my relationships, my confidence, my reputation but ultimately that was the most important night in my life. From that moment I have felt God's hand in my life gently and not so gently guiding me to where I am today. Married, minister of Word and Sacrament, with a child on the way.

Ever present God, thank you for always being there even when I didn't want you to watch me. Thank you for giving me the strength to move past the walls that were keeping me from listening to your call.

Blessings,

Buttface
